Since its inception 20 years ago, NIROX’s residency has supported over 400 artists. Almost all have left their trace in NIROX’s archive, be it a maquette or finished artwork, a palette, poem, musical score, found object or experiment; the list is as diverse as the experiences and artistic concerns of those we have had the privilege to host. Referred to as “leave behinds”, these artworks and objects help to tell the story of NIROX.

At the same time, they provide insight into the thought and making processes of our resident artists. Many have taken shape as finished bodies of work, others remain experimental, often redefining an artist’s oeuvre. To accommodate our continued growth we have renovated a workshop adjoining the residency, where archival works are now conserved and accessible to view on request, in the company of NIROX’s curatorial team.
